When does a decision begin?
Movement is controlled by the supplementary motor area (SMA) at the top of the brain.
There is an electrical signal before a person makes a decision.
The signal gets stronger the closer to the final decision. Its called the readiness potential.
So the brain starts responding before the person has decided to carry out the action.
At D the urge to do the action kicks in
The electrodes were placed above the supplementary motor area (SMA) which controls movement
So our actions are actually made subconsciously and our free will is a mere illusion.
We are aware of wanting to make the decision when the readiness potential reached a certain threshold.
