Deeper Processing, better Learning
The deeper you think about words, the better you remember them. So better think about the function of something rather than the look.
Deeper processing means activation in the PFC, the Hippocampus, and neighboring regions of the parahippocampal cortex.
Active interaction with the subject or object improves learning by a lot.
So traditional lectures at university are very ineffective.
As a teacher you need to interrupt the class and ask difficult questions and let the students think about it for a while.
The Failure of Discovery-based Teaching
We all share the same learn-algorithm. So there is no evidence for different learning strategies being better for some students but not for others.
My Thought
You don’t need to know about aerodynamics to learn how a paper plane works.
You just build one. Trial and error. Then you modify and try it again. That’s how we learn the best.
