Fear Network

Fear Network

fear network consists mainly of :

Amygdala, Hippocampus, Thalamus, Hypothalamus, periaqueductal brain region, Locus Coeruleus (blauer Kern), mid and Anterior Cingulate Cortex, insular cortex (insula) and medial parts of the PFC

Network storage of memory for fear acquisition and extinction

Soruce: Quirk & Mueller, 2008; Fig: 3

Two structures in the prefrontal cortex that promote either fear expression (or fear recall) vs. fear extinction (or extinction recall)
(T: Animal domain (rodents); H: Human domain)
