Tasks that pair well
Two kinds of tasks in our lives:
- habitual tasks
- without thought, unconsciously; requires minimal attentional space
- easy to do multitasking
- the basal ganglia processes habitual tasks in our brain and takes the off the prefrontal cortex
- complex tasks
- only with dedicated focus, requires a lot of attentional space
- no multitasking possible
- most work is done in the prefrontal cortex
complex and habitual tasks pair well because they are not processed in the same brain region. So there is no competition inside the brain.
