Test Thyself
First: students need to actively generate hypotheses
Second: students need to receive objective, non-punitive feedback that allows them to correct themselves.
⇒ Prediction Error , Grades and Error Feedback
The students’ memory of the word list was better the more opportunities they had to test themselves. [..]
The more you test yourself, the better you remember what you have to learn.

Active Engagement, A passive Organism doesn’t learn followed by error feedback maximizes learning.
So when learning something, first try to think of the answer yourself before looking at it.
Taking a brief test is way more efficient than to re-read and highlight books and texts.
Why do we still do that re-reading? The moment we finish reading, the information is fully present. But this is only in short-term memory which has got nothing to do with long-term memory.
To get information into long-term memory, it is essential to study the material, then test yourself, rather than spend all your time studying.
(p.215)

Experiments also show that it is better to alternate periods of studying and testing than to spend all of one’s time studying.
