The GPi is considered the primary output structure of the basal ganglia and is known to have an increase in its neuronal activity before the onset of PD motor symptoms.26 GPi-DBS has been successfully used to abolish dyskinesias in patients with treatment-resistant hyperkinetic movements, tremor, and dystonia in PD.15,27 In this pilot study, we assessed a novel method of segmentation of the GPi based on probabilistic tractography. We found that a greater VTA in the somatosensory region of the GPi within our defined M1 segment and, to a lesser degree, the SMA/PMC segment, corresponded with greater improvement in the UPDRS III score.## Globus Pallidus Internus (GPi)
