Grades and Error Feedback
Supervised teaching is the most effective, because the student can quickly identify the source of failure and can amend itself. So the teacher needs to provide rapid and precise feedback to achieve this.
The quality of feedback significantly determines the academic success of students.

Grades, a Poor Substitute for Error Feedback
grades do not provide sufficient information. There is no reasoning why this mistake occurred or how to correct it. It is a social stigma of incompetence.
Instead of letting students fail and continue to give them new tasks every week, students should be able to take tests again, until they pass. But giving them new tasks after they failed a tests makes it even worse.
stress and anxiety can dramatically hinder the ability to learn.
Das hat auch mit learned helplessness zu tun.
Wenn wir schlechte Noten bekommen, obwohl wir gelernt und uns dafür interessiert haben, lernen wir, dass lernen nichts bringt. So lassen wir es und werden immer schlechter.
