Freeing Up Brain Resources
The beginning of learning something new uses up a lot of energy in the Frontal Cortex.
This task is intense and **highly energy-hungry will disappear as learning consolidates. **
As we turn difficult task to an automatic one, we free up space in the frontal cortex. It turns the control over to the Primary Motor Cortex and the basal ganglia (which coordinates habits)
children begin to retrieve the result straight from memory, and the prefrontal activity fades away in favor of specialized circuits in the parietal and ventral temporal cortex
